With plenty of zombies movies already out there, you have to have something pretty unique to stand out from the undead. In the new trailer for Anna and the Apocalypse, at its core, it’s a Christmas musical.

The sleepy town of Little Haven is gearing up for Christmas, only to find itself in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. Anna (Ella Hunt) and her best friend John (Malcolm Cumming) must fight, sing (to original songs) and slash their way to survive, as they try to save family and faculty alike. Their ordeal sees them having to deal with zombie snowmen, a manic bachelor party and teenage hormones.

The trailer sets the tone, as we see characters sing and dance amid the destruction and slaughter, using candy canes, bowling balls and a see-saw as weapons.

Anna and the Apocalypse had it’s premiere at Fantastic Fest back in September 2017 but was only picked up by Orion Pictures in January this year to distribute in the US in time for Christmas. The following month Vertigo Releasing picked up the rights to distribute in the UK. The film has since played Fantasia Film Festival, the Edinburgh International Film Festival and Frightfest, gaining some strong buzz along the way.

Directed by John McPhail, the film also stars Mark Benton, Paul Kaye, Sarah Swire, Christopher Leveaux and Kirsty Strain.

Anna and the Apocalypse is set to be released in the UK and US on 30 November 2018.
