A free exhibition celebrating the works of acclaimed anime helmer Mamoru Hosoda is coming to London in October, Anime Limited has announced.

Billed as ‘the first such exhibition dedicated to an anime director to ever come to the UK’, the week-long The Works of Mamoru Hosoda showcase runs from Saturday 13 October to Saturday 20 October, with opening hours of 10:00-18:00. It will be held at Noho Studios in central London, a few minutes’ walk from Oxford Circus tube station. The free-to-enter exhibition will also feature a shop, offering merchandise previously unavailable in the UK.

One of the best-known directors working in anime today, Mamoru Hosoda’s films include The Girl Who Leapt Through Time ( 2006), Summer Wars ( 2009) and Wolf Children (2012). His latest movie Mirai is set to make its UK premiere at the BFI London Film Festival Family Gala on 13-14 October, before opening in cinemas nationwide on 2 November.

“Mamoru Hosoda has had a huge impact in the UK ever since The Girl Who Leapt Through Time – we’re very honoured to be hosting the first exhibition of this kind to showcase his work to date,” said Anime Limited prez. Andrew Partridge. “There’s no better time to explore the works of this incredibly talented director, when Mirai has been welcomed as the Gala film for Family at the BFI London Film Festival.”
