It was just last month when the news emerged that talks were taking place for Veronica Mars to return as an eight-episode limited series on Hulu. It has now been confirmed by the show’s star Kristen Bell that she is definitely coming back after she put out a video via social media.

As reported on Deadline, the new series will be shown exclusively on Hulu and is set to premiere in 2019. Hulu has also acquired the rights to seasons 1-3 of Veronica Mars, as well as the 2014 feature film, which will be available to view on the streaming service from summer 2019.

Veronica Mars ran for three seasons from 2004 to 2007 and had Bell play the title character, a student who solves cases alongside her private investigator father (Enrico Colantoni).

Bell announced the news by uploading a “very important marshmallow announcement” on Twitter and Instagram, telling fans, “We’re making another one.” In the post, Bell said, “Veronica has always been a super hero without a cape. And I think she’s exactly what the world needs right now. Thank you to all my fellow marshmallows who stayed excited. Thank you to Hulu for the opportunity. I hope we’re still friends after I taser you.”

Moments later, Hulu also confirmed the news via Twitter, saying, “Saddle up, Marshmallows.”

The first episode will be penned by series creator Rob Thomas. This is the official synopsis for the new series (which shares a few similarities to the Veronica Mars novel, The Thousand Dollar Tan Line):

“Spring breakers are getting murdered in Neptune, thereby decimating the seaside town’s lifeblood tourist industry. After Mars Investigations is hired by the parents of one of the victims to find their son’s killer, Veronica is drawn into an epic eight-episode mystery that pits the enclave’s wealthy elites, who would rather put an end to the month-long bacchanalia, against a working class that relies on the cash influx that comes with being the West Coast’s answer to Daytona Beach.”
