New Warhammer 40,000 skirmish game Kill Team has been getting a tonne of support from Games Workshop recently, but this weekend sees pre-orders open for its most significant expansion to date – the big box Kill Team: Rogue Trader.

Available for pre-order on Saturday 8 September and hitting shelves a week later, Rogue Trader features two brand new kill teams – the Elucidian Starstriders and the Nurgle-mutated Gellerpox Infected. As well as providing fresh blood for your Kill Team games, the two forces can also be fielded in Warhammer 40K proper, with the boxed set coming with a pair of mini-codexes for allying the new factions with your main army.

While the Gellerpox mutants are pleasingly characterful with their hulking brutes and unfamiliar Nurglings, it’s the Starstriders that really caught our eye. Elucia Vhane and her entourage mark the return of classic Rogue Traders to the Warhammer universe, with an old school look that harkens back to the early days of 40K. In fact, Games Workshop says that minis’ design is driven by concept art produced by iconic GW illustrator John Blanche.

In addition to the new sculpts, the Kill Team: Rogue Trader expansion comes with a double-sided game board featuring Elucia Vhane’s shuttle and an Imperial temple, along with 11 new missions to play on them, with options for open, narrative and matched play.
