Want to know how directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah landed the gigi to direct the long-awaited reunion of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in Bad Boys for Life, while also being rumoured to be involved with Beverly Hills Cop 4. The answer is Gangsta.

The film sees a hapless group of underdogs bite off more than they can chew in a wannabe gangster story filled with outrageous humour and chaotic gangland violence alike. Matteo Simoni brings an adorable Ali G-esque incompetence to his lead performance as wannabe gangster Adamo, clutching his Gucci cap like a treasured status symbol.

It’s inspired by El Arbi and Fallah’s experiences as Moroccans growing up in Belgium. The directors describe it as a mashup of Flemish electro and rap, shot through with flashes of neon and adorned with tributes to video games of a bygone era.

Gangsta opens in cinemas and is released on digital HD on 19 October, with the DVD release following on 29 October 2018.
