The first teaser and poster has been released for director Rupert Wyatt’s Captive State, which comes across as an alternate take on Falling Skies.

It’s been a decade since the Earth was occupied by an extra-terrestrial force. Focusing on a Chicago neighbourhood, Captive State explores the lives on both sides of the conflict – the collaborators and dissidents.

The teaser plays like a propaganda video, presenting a number of good things we should be thankful for (no poverty, no crime), but not everything correlates with what we see, closing with a monumental final shot. The poster also implies that the humans will be fighting back.

The film stars John Goodman, Machine Gun Kelly, Vera Farmiga, Ashton Sanders, Jonathan Majors and Madeline Brewer.

Captive State opens in the US on 29 March 2019 and in the UK on 12 April 2019.
