A whole host of Devil May Cry 5 info has spewed forth like red orbs from a slain demon following the game’s latest appearance at Tokyo Game Show 2018, including the news that the game will feature online multiplayer and microtransactions.

The inclusion of microtransactions, which will allow you to spend real money on red orbs to power up your characters faster, was spotted by Gamespot during a recent hands-on event. After accessing a Divinity Statue – basically, an in-game shop to buy items, upgrade skills and more – they noticed an option to spend money on red orbs too.

Hideaki Itsuno, director of Devil May Cry 5, responded with the following statement: “With giving people the ability to purchase Red Orbs, it’s something we want to give people as an option. If they want to save time and just want to get all the stuff at once, those people can do that. But on the other hand I don’t feel you have to get all the moves. You should be able to play it the way you want to play it.”

A small concern, then, but it shouldn’t be anything so major as to impede the quality of the game.

Meanwhile, a listing for Devil May Cry 5 was spotted on the PlayStation Store by devilmaycry.org, which stated the game will support online play for 2-3 players. Exactly what to expect from this multiplayer mode remains a mystery for now as Capcom is keeping quiet. However, many are speculating it could be an expansion of Bloody Palace from previous games: a horde mode that pits you against increasingly harder waves of enemies. It sounds like a good fit to us!
