Anime streaming service Animax UK is to shut down on 15 October, the company’s website has announced. A subsidiary of Sony Pictures Television, Animax UK is set to shutter its doors on the fifth anniversary of its launch back in 2013.
While no further payments will be taken from customers, Animax UK says that all active customers as of 14 September will still have full access to its content – which includes series such as Full Metal Panic, Kill la Kill and Space Dandy – until it ceases operations on 15 October.
Writing for Anime UK News, Josh A. Stevens reports that existing Animax UK customers have also received a promo code for £5 off a three month subscription to fellow streaming service FunimationNow, which is also owned by Sony Pictures.
