This week’s Nintendo Direct was another 40-minutes jam-packed with exciting Switch and 3DS news. Relive all the announcements and surprises below, or read on for some of the highlights.

The biggest takeaway from the show was the pair of announcements related to Animal Crossing. First, we had the reveal that Animal Crossing will be coming to the Switch in 2019. The cutesy life sim has soared in popularity over the years and fans had been calling for a Switch version for some time. We also learnt that Animal Crossing mascot Isabelle will be entering the fray in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

There was an entire meteor’s worth of Final Fantasy related announcements for the Switch, too. Take a deep breath because a grand total of EIGHT Final Fantasy games have been confirmed for release on the Nintendo console. That’s Final Fantasy 15 Pocket Edition (available now), Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition, Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon Everybuddy, World of Final Fantasy Maxima, Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy 9, Final Fantasy 10/10-2 and Final Fantasy 12 The Zodiac Age. That should keep you busy for a while, though our hearts go out to poor Final Fantasy 8.

What else? Oh! We got some more details about the Nintendo Switch online service. The subscription-based model will begin on September 18 and be required for online play. You’ll also be able to make use of a cloud saves feature, have better integration with the mobile app, play a number of NES classics and also be awarded a number of other bonus goodies. It’ll set you back $3.99 for one month, $7.99 for three months and $19.99 for a whole year. A family membership for up to eight accounts costs $34.99 for 12 months.

To finish off, Luigi’s Mansion 3 and New Super Mario Bros U were both announced for Switch, as well as Katamari Damacy Reroll. The 3DS was shown some love too, with a new version of Kirby’s Epic Yarn.
