This week sees Manga Entertainment dish up the sequel season of kickass cooking anime Food Wars! on Blu-ray and DVD. Featuring episodes 1-13 of the hit J.C.Staff series, Food Wars! The Second Plate gives us another helping of appetising action as brash former diner chef Yukihira Soma continues to cook up a storm at Totsuki Culinary Academy.

Helmed once again by Yoshitomo Yonetani, the second serving of Food Wars! opens with a bento theme as main tournament of the Autumn Elections pits Soma against Erina’s half-Danish, scientifically-minded cousin Alice. Meanwhile, Megumi goes up against Ryo in a battle of the ramen and Takumi duels Subaru over desserts. Delicious!

Following last month’s collector’s edition Blu-ray of Flip Flappers, this week also sees MVM Entertainment release the yuri-licious magical girl series on standard DVD. The likeable 13-episode show from Studio 3Hz centres on ordinary schoolgirl Cocona, who is whisked off to the fantastic world of Pure Illusion by her über-energetic new friend Papika.
