Nintendo has announced that bonkers video game homage Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes will be released for Switch on January 18, 2019.

The set up is all sorts of ridiculous, as enthusiastic assassin Travis Touchdown is drawn into a possessed video game console along with Badman – an old rival who is intent on killing Travis for the murder of his daughter.

Travis Strikes Again involves playing through various stages based on games found in the console with many taking inspiration from real-world indie hits, including Hyper Light Drifter and Hotline Miami. That means there’ll be a lot of familiar hack-and-slash action, though with a few cool twists thrown in for good measure too.

Don’t even try and unpack it all, just know that Travis Strikes Again comes from the mind of Goichi “Suda51” Suda once again and follows on from the previous two games in the series.

Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes will be released for Nintendo Switch on January 18, 2019.
