New Shenmue 3 release date announced

We’d already heard back in May that Shenmue 3 had been delayed until 2019, but now publisher Deep Silver has announced that hotly-anticipated follow-up to the pair Dreamcast cult classics will be released August 27, 2019.

The announcement was made at the opening of this year’s Gamescom, where Deep Silver and YS Net Inc also debuted a brand new trailer for Shenmue 3.

The successfully Kickstarted third entry in the trilogy will continue the story of Ryo Hazuki as he investigates the murder of his father.

Much like the previous games, you’ll explore the world, chat with relevant people, examine clues and probably get up to all sorts of other nonsense. Maybe there’ll be some forklift truck driving involved – who knows?

Just earlier today, re-releases of Shenmue and Shenmue 2 came out for PS4, Xbox One and PC. It’s the perfect opportunity to catch up on everything you’ve missed so far ahead of next August. Even if there’s a long wait ahead!
