Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, the latest game developed by Dark Souls creators From Software, will be released on March 22, 2019.
Though Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice may initially look like just another Dark Souls, a quick look at the new gameplay debuted at this year’s Gamescom shows that some DNA may be shared but it’s a very different beast indeed.
Moving the action to Sengoku era Japan in the 1500s, you play as the “one-armed wolf” – a disgraced warrior who is out to restore his honour by rescuing a young lord he was sworn to protect.
What that involves is a serious amount of samurai swordplay, played at a much quicker pace than any From Software game so far. You can also equip a variety of Prosthetic Tools, including a grappling hook that can be used for exploration. Yep, this is a different pace from Dark Souls entirely.
The Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Collector’s Edition was also made available for pre-order alongside the release date announcement. It’ll include the full game, a 7″ Shinobi statue, a steelbook case, artbook, map, digital soundtrack and replica game coins.
