Mark Millar revealed via Deadline the cover art and story details on Kevin Smith’s four-issue miniseries, Hit-Girl: The Golden Rage of Hollywood.

2018 is proving to be a busy year for Hit-Girl, as Image Comics ongoing series has an older Mindy McCready leaving America and fighting crime around the world, cleaning up in Columbia, Canada and then Rome. Next year, her fourth stop sees her return to America, targeting Hollywood.

Each issue is described as a “tribute to a different era of American cinema”, as The Golden Rage of Hollywood sees Hit-Girl storm movie sets and wage war on predators in the industry. With art by Pernille Orum (character creator of DC Superhero Girls), the cover art by Francesco Francavilla was also revealed, which sees the young vigilante in front of the Hollywood sign with her swords in each hand, surrounded by mini posters advertising Heretofore Hit-Girl.

Smith revealed back in May that he was working on the four-issue miniseries. He also tweeted out Orum’s first drawing of Hit-Girl. “I wrote most of The Golden Rage of Hollywood Hit-Girl arc while recuperating after my health scare, so it was Mindy McCready and her bloody thirst for justice who helped me mend my broken heart,” said Smith to Deadline. “Telling tales with Mark’s toys was an absolute pleasure, but having Pernille bring it all to life makes this a must-read for me! Pernille’s style is like hot cocoa for the eyes and soul, so I’m ecstatic she opted to lend it to our pint-sized, pre-pubescent Punisher!”

Millar also had praise for Smith, calling him, “one of my favourite people in Hollywood. He writes dialogue the way I wish people talked, and his intelligence and humour fits into this world just so perfectly. I wrote him a fan letter over twenty years ago asking to see his Superman script and I was there when Clerks was screened in Scotland even before that, so you can imagine how delighted I am to be somewhere on the same credit page as this guy.”

Hit-Girl #13 is set to arrive on January 2019.
