Do you remember Onimusha? Seems Capcom does as well. They’ve just announced a remaster of Onimusha: Warlords is coming to PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC in 2019.
Originally released back in 2001 on PS2, Onimusha: Warlords was the first entry in a series that was planned as a trilogy, but eventually stretched to seven titles, including spin-offs. The debut game took place during the Sengoku period of Japan and followed the samurai Samanosuke as he went on a quest to save Princess Yuki from an army of demons.
What that involved is a lot of slicing, dicing and firing off magical attacks, though the game also borrowed some puzzle-solving ideas from Capcom’s Resident Evil series too.
New features coming to the remaster include high definition graphics, widescreen support, a screen scroll feature to show more areas, re-recorded voice acting, a new soundtrack, reworked controls with support for analog sticks and an easy mode unlocked right from the off.
Onimusha: Warlords is scheduled for release on PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC on January 19, 2019.
