New Mamoru Hosoda movie Mirai is to make its UK premiere at October’s BFI London Film Festival, the film’s distributor Anime Limited today announced.
Time-travelling fantasy adventure Mirai, whose world premiere earlier this year was part of the Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes Film Festival, will headline at London Film Festival’s Family Gala, screening at BFI Southbank on 13 October and BFI IMAX on 14 October.
Directed by Mamoru Hosoda (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars), Mirai tells the story of spoiled toddler Kun (Moka Kamishiraishi), who is whisked off on a trip through time by the future version of his little sister Mirai (Haru Kuroki).
Mirai is set to open on 100 screens across the UK & Ireland following its October premiere, with subtitled screenings on 2 November and English-dubbed screenings on 4 November.
