Netflix has released a teaser trailer for the third season of Stranger Things, played in the style of a 1980s advert that promotes a new location, the Starcourt Mall.

Keeping with the 1980s theme the advert has been shot in the 4:3 aspect ratio and even has a few tracking lines, reminiscent of VHS tapes. It tells viewers about the brand new Starcourt Mall coming to Hawkins, which includes shops such as The Gap, Waldenbooks, Claire’s and Sam Goody (that last one might be lost on some younger viewers).

The teaser also gives fans their first look at Maya Hawke’s character Robin, who is working behind the counter at the Scoops Ahoy ice-cream parlor, alongside Joe Keery’s Steve Harrington.

If you want to delve further, typing starcourtmall.com online takes you to Retail World, where you can learn about how the production used a section of a real (and mostly vacant) mall to construct Starcourt Mall, which they began filming in from May 2018. The website also includes a few photos from the set, including a directory of all the shops at Starcourt Mall.

A Starcourt Mall Twitter account has also appeared online.

The video concludes with, “Coming Next Summer!” suggesting that the third season will arrive on Netflix in summer 2019.
