Awesome Games Done Quick and Summer Games Done Quick have become two of the biggest highlights in the gaming calendar over the last few years. The speedrunning marathons, which show both classic and modern games being beaten in record time live on Twitch, often raise huge amounts of money for charity. This year’s SGDQ 2018 was no different.
Concluding on Sunday with a seven-hour playthrough of Final Fantasy VI, the final tally stood at $2,122,449 to be donated to humanitarian organisation Doctors Without Borders. That marks a new record for the event.
$2,122,529.20, that's a new SGDQ record! Thank you so so much to all of you for your support in helping us reach a new record for #SGDQ2018

The week-long marathon was chock full of impressive speedruns: everything from Resident Evil 4 and the original Tomb Raider to modern classics such as Celeste and Super Mario Maker. If you’re looking to get caught up on any of the action you missed throughout the week we’d suggest you start with those games – especially the blindfolded Mario Maker stages!
Then, when you have a third of a day available, settle down for puwexil’s Final Fantasy VI run below.
Games Done Quick will return in early 2019.
