It’s a big release week for Anime Limited, with fantasy adventures Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World and Rokka -Braves of the Six Flowers- hitting shelves alongside Masaaki Yuasa movie Night is Short, Walk On Girl and the second half of mystery series Hyouka.

A fresh take on the ‘trapped in another world’ genre, Re:Zero from OLM spin-off studio White Fox (Steins;Gate, Akame Ga Kill) sees Japanese high schooler Subaru whisked away to a fantasy world where he quickly discovers the hard way that he can ‘respawn’ after dying. Add silver-haired half-elf Emilia and fan fave maid twins Rem and Ram, and we’re good to go. This first volume is available as a standard DVD and as a collector’s edition Blu-ray, complete with a 52-page series companion book.

Directed by Takeo Takahashi and produced by Passione, the studio behind recent series Citrus and High School DxD Hero, Rokka -Braves of the Six Flowers- also comes as both a standard DVD and collector’s edition Blu-ray, this time featuring a 48-page art book. A fantasy tale with a mystery twist, Rokka stars six heroes whom the Goddess of Fate has chosen to defeat the newly awakened Demon Lord. The only snag is that when the heroes assemble, there turns out to be seven of them – but which one’s the imposter?

Set in the same world as The Tatami Galaxy, sub-only Masaaki Yuasa film Night is Short, Walk On Girl is as wild and inventive as you’d expect from the man who made Mind Game, Lu Over The Wall and Devilman Crybabycheck out our review for more. Meanwhile, Hyouka: Part 2 concludes Kyoto Animation’s slice-of-life mystery drama about Kamiyama High School’s conundrum-cracking Classic Literature Club. Also out today on the All The Anime label are standard Blu-ray editions of Wolf’s Rain and Sword Art Online II: Part 2.

MVM Entertainment has found Heaven’s Lost Property this week, releasing AIC’s fantasy-flavoured harem series on Blu-ray and DVD. Said lost property is glum-looking ‘angeloid’ Ikaros, a scantily-clad winged girl who plummets to earth near pervy teen protagonist Tomoki and – because this is anime – promptly declares him to be her master. Expect lots of (fairly tame) fanservice, lots of super-deformed shots of Tomoki and the occasional flock of flying panties.

Manga UK bring us high seas shenanigans in the shape of One Piece Collection 17. Featuring episodes 397 to 421 of Toei Animation’s pirate-themed behemoth, the latest DVD instalment of One Piece sees the irrepressible Luffy turn a mermaid auction into a buccaneering brawl; run afoul of Bartholomew Kuma, one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea; become the lone man on female-only Amazon Lily island, and accidentally interrupt the sacred bathing hour of its ruler, the beautiful pirate empress Boa Hancock.

We’re gonna just leave this screenshot here and quietly walk away…
