In an E3 press conference filled with megaton announcements, including a full reveal of multiplayer survival RPG Fallout 76, a Doom sequel, a new Wolfenstein spin-off, Prey DLC and confirmation they’re working on space-RPG Starfield, Bethesda saved the big news for last – The Elder Scrolls 6 is in development.

Sadly, all we have to go on is this generic flyby teaser trailer over a fantasy land, but it was more than enough to get the internet buzzing after years of waiting for news on a follow-up to 2011’s Skyrim.

Considering the number of projects currently on the go at Bethesda Game Studios, we wouldn’t be surprised if this one is barely past the concept stage right now, so we’ve still got a good few years to wait. It’s coming after Starfield too, which is the developer’s next-generation RPG, so that should give you some idea how far down to mark it on your calendar. Hint: very, very far.

Anyway, Bethesda is still busy porting Skyrim to other devices, including Amazon’s Alexa. Yes, the entire conference had high levels of dad jokes throughout.

If that teaser has left you wanting a quick Elder Scrolls fix then a new mobile RPG, The Elder Scrolls: Blades, will be available on iOS and Android later this autumn. Even though it’s scaled down to fix on your phone, Blades is a full Elder Scrolls RPG experience, allowing you to create your own character and venture into a vast world. You’ll be able to battle other players, build your own town hub and explore procedurally-generated dungeons. Best of all, it’ll cost you nothing.

A pretty good showing for Bethesda, then. All eyes now turn to see how Square Enix, Ubisoft and Sony do later tonight.
