The first episode of The Walking Dead: The Final Season will premiere on August 14th, Telltale Games has announced.

This final run will conclude the story of Clementine, who we first met as a young girl in the debut episode of season one. Now, many years and many trials later, she’s a hardened survivor who must care for the orphaned AJ while also finding a place for the pair to live. A secluded school may finally be the chance to create a new home, but this is The Walking Dead, so chances are things will go south very quickly.

Telltale promises an “emotional, gut-wrenching story” (we don’t doubt that), plus a handful of gameplay and graphical improvements for the finale. There’s a new over-the-shoulder camera system, more room for exploration and unscripted combat encounters, which should go some way to refresh the formula a little.

The Walking Dead: The Final Season will be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC from August 14 for $19.99. A Switch release will follow later in the year.

As an added bonus, if you pre-order The Final Season on PS4 or Xbox One you’ll also get immediate access to The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series Collection, containing all 19 previously released episodes across the entire series. An excellent way to catch up on what has been one of the finest story-based games of this generation.
