There was much excitement in the run-up to E3 after it was rumoured that Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 remake was going to be unveiled for the first time. Well, at yesterday’s Sony conference, we got our first look at Leon and Claire’s spruced up slog through Raccoon City.

Considering how much silence there had been around the game it was easy to be concerned, but doesn’t this look phenomenal? That opening street, the Raccoon City PD lobby, Leon hounded by a huge mob of zombies – we need this right now.

What’s even better is just how soon we’re going to be able to play it: January 25th. That release date clearly pleased the crowd watching at the venue.

Now, if only another Japanese developer who has committed to remaking one of their most beloved games of the PS1 era would update us on their progress too… We can dream.

Resident Evil 2 will be released for PS4 on January 25th.
