DONTNOD has announced that Life is Strange will debut on September 27th for PS4, Xbox One and PC with the first episode in a new five-part series.

That’s all they’ve given us so far: no plot synopsis, no characters, nothing. Still, the release date is a lot sooner than many of us would have guessed so consider us very excited indeed.

More information will be revealed in August, so expect a more comprehensive reveal at or around Gamescom.

Until then, we have The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit to tide us over. Described as a “standalone narrative experience” by DONTNOD, it follows an adventurous 10-year old boy named Chris Eriksen and serves as a precursor to Life is Strange 2. It’s not a prequel, per se, but more of an introduction to the themes and ideas that will be explored in the main game.

The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit will be available for free on PS4, Xbox One and PC from June 26.
