Horror anime Happy Sugar Life is to get a 13 July premiere, a new promo video has revealed. The Studio Ezo’la television series, which will also be streaming on Amazon Prime Video in Japan and worldwide, adapts Tomiyaki Kagisora’s manga about a high schooler who will stop at nothing to ‘protect’ the young girl she is obsessed with.

Directed by KanColle helmer Keizou Kusakawa and Nobuyoshi Nagayama (My Girlfriend is Shobitch), psychological horror Happy Sugar Life centres on beautiful schoolgirl Sato Matsuzaka, whose sweet demeanour hides a scary obsession with a younger girl named Shio, whom she has kidnapped and keeps in her apartment. And Sato is prepared to go to any lengths to hold on to her true love …including murder!
