The Conjuring has already seen a successful spin-off featuring a demonic doll, with two Annabelle films. Now Warner Bros has released the first teaser for another spin-off, The Nun, exploring the origins of the evil nun Valak that was first introduced in The Conjuring 2.

When a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, Father Burke (Demian Bichir) and Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga) are sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together they uncover the order’s unholy secret. As they risk their lives, their faith and their very souls, the abbey becomes a horrific battleground between the living and the damned.

Directed by Corin Hardy (The Hallow), from a screenplay by Annabelle and It scribe Gary Dauberman, and story by James Wan, the film also stars Charlotte Hope, Ingrid Bisu, Lili Bordán, Jonny Coyne and Bonnie Aarons.

The Nun is set to open in the UK and US on 7 September 2018.
