Not since September last year has there been any talk of a Terminator franchise reboot.
Now it seems, we have the first evidence that production has actually begun. Linda Hamilton is returning once again as Sarah Connor in the next Terminator, allegedly already filming in Madrid under the direction of Deadpool‘s Tim Miller.
The new film erases the ugly future of bad sequels and instead follows the events in James Cameron‘s Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Thus, Hamilton returns as a now-seasoned warrior who will once again go up against the machines. Linda Hamilton Fans has shared the first-ever look at Hamilton in the newest entry, which echoes a little of the aged T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) that we saw in Terminator Genisys.
Not much is known about the new movie, but Gabriel Luna, who appeared as Ghost Rider in ABC’s superhero series Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be the new cybernetic killing machine.
The Terminator was resurrected by Skydance’s David Ellison in concert with James Cameron, who gets back a lot of the reversion rights to the original 1984 movie, next year.
Luna and Hamilton are joined by Mackenzie Davis, Diego Boneta and Arnold Schwarzenegger, with David Goyer writing the script. Natalia Reyes (Lady, La Vendedora de Rosas) and Diego Boneta also have been set to star in the next film.
The as-yet untitled reboot is slated to be released on November 22, 2019.
