We’re back racing down the slopes of Mount Akina this week, with MVM giving a Blu-ray and DVD release to Initial D Legend 2: Racing, the middle movie in Sanzigen & Liden Films’ trilogy rebooting the classic car-racing anime.

By besting Takahashi and his Akagi RedSuns in the series opener – check out our review for more deets – Initial D’s teen protagonist Takumi Fujiwara has inadvertently put himself on the street racing map …and there’s no shortage of challengers itching to take him down on his home turf. Our mate Takumi’s got his trusty Eight-Six and some serious tofu delivery run experience to fall back on, but will it be enough to see off his new rivals?

Today’s other new release is Anime Limited’s standard edition Blu-ray of Persona 3: Movie #3 Falling Down, the latest instalment of the acclaimed JRPG’s four film anime adaptation from A-1 Pictures. A subtitle-only release, Falling Down continues the story of Makoto Yuki and the S.E.E.S.’s secret war against the Shadows, with fewer bikinis and beaches on display than puntastically-titled predecessor Midsummer Knight’s Dream but some Grade A gloom, despondency and general crushing angst.
