Telltale’s The Wolf Among Us season 2 delayed until 2019

Grim news for anyone looking forward to season two of Telltale’s The Wolf Among Us – the developer has announced that the release date has been pushed back to 2019.

The second season of the choose-your-own-adventure adaptation of Bill Willingham’s Fables comic book series was originally scheduled for launch before the end of 2018, but has been delayed ‘as the result of a few fundamental changes at Telltale’.

‘Most importantly, we’re committed to exploring new ways to tell our stories. Taking this extra time will allow us not only to focus on quality but also to experiment and iterate in order to craft something truly special,’ read a statement of apology on Telltale’s website.

While the delay is definitely disappointing, it’s interesting to read that Telltale is looking to experiment more with the new season of The Wolf Among Us. The developer settled into a bit of a stale formula in recent years, releasing multiple projects on a much too quicker timeframe and lead to a drop in overall quality. Since then, however, we’ve had a run of strong episodic series, including The Walking Dead: A New Frontier and Batman: The Enemy Within.

Telltale is currently also working on The Walking Dead: The Final Season, which will wrap up the story of Clementine later this year, as well as Game of Thrones: Season 2.
