Solo: A Star Wars Story is off to a strong start after tickets went on sale at 12:01am ET Friday morning.

Solo is the number two movie this year in terms of 24 hours of presales, only trailing Avengers: Infinity War on both Fandango and Atom Tickets.

Fandango also reports that Solo has sold double the tickets that Marvel’s Black Panther did in its first 24 hours. Black Panther, which is currently the highest grossing film of the year with $1.3billion worldwide, holds the number three spot in terms of 2018 24-hour presales on Fandango.

In a recent interview with Esquire, Ehrenreich addressed some of the controversy around the ousting of Solo’s original directors, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, explaining their approach to the material.

Meanwhile, in just 11 days of global release, Avengers: Infinity War set a new speed record to reach $1billion at the worldwide box office. This topped the previous 12-day run to $1billion of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Out of 34 films that have reached $1billion global ticket sales in industry history, this is Marvel’s 6th and Disney’s 17th. Scary isn’t it.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is set to hit theatres on May 25. However, it premieres at the Cannes Film Festival on May 15th, so there will be a lot of talk about it then.
