Shouji Gatou, creator of the fan favourite Full Metal Panic! franchise, is to be the Anime Guest of Honour at MCM London Comic Con later this month. In addition to signing autographs, the acclaimed author and anime screenwriter will be taking part in Q&As following screenings of the first episode of the new Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory, scheduled for midday on Saturday 26 May and 14:00 on Sunday 27 May.

As well as writing the light novels that the Full Metal Panic! anime series are based on, Gatou has taken an active hand in the action comedy’s on-screen adaptations – most recently scripting long-awaited fourth season Invisible Victory. Produced by animation studio Xebec, the new series is currently airing in the UK on Crunchyroll.

Tokyo-born Gatou also worked on the adaptation of his Amagi Brilliant Park series of novels, which garnered an anime series back in 2014. He has also acted as scriptwriter on fellow Kyoto Animation shows Lucky Star, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and slice-of-life mystery drama Hyouka. Other anime credits include studio Gonzo fantasy adventure The Tower of Druaga: The Aegis of Uruk and its 2009 sequel The Sword of Uruk.

MCM London returns to ExCel London on 25-27 May. Tickets to the show are available here.
