Mile 22 marks the fourth collaboration between director Peter Berg and his star Mark Wahlberg. After Lone Soldier, Deepwater Horizon and Patriot’s Day, the duo have come together for what appears to be a modern reworking of The Gauntlet… only with more explosions.

James Silva (Wahlberg) leads a CIA team tasked with retrieving and transporting a police officer (Iko Uwais), who will trade what valuable information he has after he is safely transferred out of Southeast Asia. However, a swarm of hitmen, gangsters and corrupt police officers litter the 22 miles that prevent them from reaching their destination. Cue martial arts, shootouts and a lot of things blowing up.

Scripted by novelist Lea Carpenter and Jack Ryan scribe Graham Rowland, the film also stars John Malkovich, Ronda Rousey, Terry Kinney, Lauren Cohan, Nikolai Nikolaeff and CL.

Mile 22 opens in the US on 3 August and in the UK on 10 August.
