Bohemian Rhapsody trailer has arrived

Oddly, it’s still described as a teaser…but who cares, it’s a few more precious seconds of footage – in addition to yesterday’s teaser – from the film we are probably most excited about, with the exception of Solo: A Star Wars Story.

It’s just 1minute and 30 seconds long…but it really does give us an incredible idea of Rami Malek’s performance as Queen’s frontman, Freddy Mercury.

Joining Malek is Gwilym Lee as Brian May – lead guitar, Ben Hardy as Roger Taylor – drums and Joseph Mazzello as John Deacon – bass guitar. Mazzello you may remember also starred with Malek in the epic WWII mini-series The Pacific.

Mike Myers is listed on the IMDb page, but there’s no character name associated with him. And for those really eagle-eyed fans, did you spot Kenny Everett?! Played by Dickie Beau, he was a close friend of Mercury’s and was instrumental (pardon the pun) in making Bohemian Rhapsody a hit.

The official synopsis has also been released…

Bohemian Rhapsody is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury, who defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet. The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound, their near-implosion as Mercury’s lifestyle spirals out of control, and their triumphant reunion on the eve of Live Aid, where Mercury, facing a life-threatening illness, leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music. In the process, cementing the legacy of a band that were always more like a family, and who continue to inspire outsiders, dreamers and music lovers to this day.

The UK is fortunate in that it gets this movie on 24th October, a full week before the US on 2nd November. Damnitt. Maybe I’ll fly home that week…
