Sony has released not just one, but two trailers for The Equalizer 2, sequel to director Antoine Fuqua’s 2014 hit action film, itself loosely based on the 1980s TV series of the same name.

Retired CIA operative Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) is still busy administering his own brand of justice. However, things turn personal after his friend Susan (Melissa Leo) is targeted and killed.

Sony have a trailer for US audiences and an international trailer. Both are cut differently. Each one opens with Washington’s McCall killing a number of very bad people in just a matter of seconds. As expected, both trailers have a montage where we see McCall kill numerous people via the use of bullets, explosions, knives and even a credit card. When one is doing all this, it is also a requirement that a bad ass line must be delivered, which Washington pulls off effortlessly (“I am going to kill each and every one of them”).

The film marks the first time that Denzel Washington has starred in a sequel, which he also produces. It co-stars Pedro Pascal, Ashton Sanders and Bill Pullman.

The Equalizer 2 is released in the US on 20 July 2018 and in the UK on 17 August 2018.
