With Yakuza 6: The Song of Life due for release next month, SEGA has announced that a remake of the second game in the series titled Yakuza Kiwami 2 will be coming to PS4 on August 28th.
Taking place a year after the events of the debut entry in the series, protagonist Kazuma Kiryu finds himself drawn back into the world of the yakuza where an all-out-war is brewing.
SEGA promises that Yakuza Kiwami 2 is a fully-fledged remake of the original game in the fancy Dragon Engine. Cut scenes and voice lines have all been re-recorded, while localisation efforts have been redoubled to ensure the game is as faithful to the Japanese original.
Additionally, Yakuza Kiwami 2 will come with an entirely new campaign focused on Goro Majima. The ‘Mad Dog of Shimano’ will be playable with his trusty dagger in a story that reveals more of his journey since the conclusion of Yakuza Kiwami.
Yakuza Kiwami 2 will be released for PS4 on August 28th. Pre-orders and first-run copies of the game will be shipped in a rather pretty steelbook edition too!
