After teases from both Bandai Namco and The Witcher developer CD Projekt Red, it has been confirmed that Geralt will be a fighter in the upcoming Soulcalibur 6.

Joining the likes of Mitsurugi, Sophitia and Ivy, the monster slayer from Rivia will take his place on the stage of history. His moveset appears to be wholly brought over from The Witcher 3, as he can be seen swapping between swordplay and powerful magical signs in the trailer above. Maybe he quaffs a potion or two before the battle starts to prepare as well.

The iconic home of the witchers, Kaer Morhen, will also make an appearance as a stage for you to fight on as the sound of “Hunt or be Hunted” from the game’s soundtrack blasts out in the background. Added to that, voice actor Doug Cockle will reprise his role as the sardonic and disgruntled Geralt.

While it may seem like a slightly odd crossover at first, Bandai Namco actually distributed both The Witcher 2 and The Witcher 3 in Europe, so that’s where the connection comes from.

“All Soulcalibur characters have strong convictions and complex backgrounds and this is why it is a great honour for the whole Soulcalibur team to welcome Geralt as the guest character in Soulcalibur 6,” says Soulcalibur producer, Motohiro Okubo. “Thanks to the great cooperation with CD Projekt RED, we’ve been able to fully integrate Geralt’s fighting style and appearance. We can’t wait for Soulcalibur fans around the world to welcome Geralt to the stage of History.”

Soulcalibur 6 is scheduled for release later this year on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
