The official Gundam.info website has released a new English-subbed trailer introducing the characters, mecha and setting of Gundam Build Divers, the latest series in the Gundam Build Fighters franchise.

Slated to premiere on Japanese TV on 3 April and worldwide ‘this spring’, Gundam Build Divers sees the giant robo action expand to the virtual world, with teen protagonist Riku Mikami and his friends Yukio and Momoka uploading themselves and their fave gundam models onto VRMMO Gunpla Battle Nexus Online to take part in a special tournament.

Like 2013’s Gundam Build Fighters and sequel Gundam Build Fighters Try, Divers makes plastic model Gundam – known as Gunpla – the stars of the show. An affectionate parody of the Gundam universe (not to mention a great way to sell more merch!), the franchise is stuffed with shout-outs to the mobile suits and famous moments of previous shows.
