April is the coolest month for My Hero Academia fans – first we heard that Season 3 will premiere on Funimation on 7 April; now comes the news that Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is to give the first half of Season 2 its UK DVD and Blu-ray debut on 2 April.

Featuring the first dozen episodes of the action comedy anime’s sequel season (plus recap episode 13.5 ‘Hero Notebook’), My Hero Academia Season 2, Part 1 continues Studio Bones’ hit adaptation of Kohei Horikoshi original manga starring Izuku ‘Deku’ Midoriya.

Born without special powers – known as ‘Quirks’ – in a world liberally stuffed with superheroes, Deku finally gets his chance to shine when his idol and mentor, All Might, gives him super strength. Enrolling in U.A. High School, the world’s most prestigious hero academy, Deku soon finds himself up against the aptly named League of Villains.

Season 2 opens with Deku and the students of Class 1-A facing an even greater challenge than an organisation of homicidal bad guys – the School Sports Festival! Deku and friends will need to give it everything they’ve if they’re going to clinch victory in the biggest Quirk competition around.
