Marvel’s Black Panther is already the highest grossing film of 2018 so far, but it has now joined an exclusive club, becoming the 33rd film to earn over $1 billion worldwide. As reported on Deadline, Black Panther is the 16th Walt Disney film and 5th Marvel film to cross the $1 billion milestone and achieved this on its 26th day of release.

During its fourth weekend of release in the US, Marvel’s Wakanda warrior managed to retain its position at the top of the box office (beating Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time), earning $41 million. That takes its US gross to $562 million. It is currently ranked as the 7th highest earning film at the US box office.

Outside the US, the film was released in China this weekend, earning $66.5 million during its opening weekend there, bringing the film’s international gross to $516 million. That makes for a total worldwide gross of $1.078 billion, which currently makes it the 21st highest grossing film worldwide. Though at the rate its going, Black Panther could potentially finish in the top ten.
