Issue 71 of MyM magazine is out now, featuring The Walking Dead‘s King Ezekial (AKA Khary Payton), cosplay superstar Tabitha Lyons, Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld and an indispensable guide to crackpot writer/director David Lynch!

Bye Bye!

“And now, the end is near, and so I face the final curtain…”

What a journey. What a team. What a magazine. We always thought of MyM as a portable MCM Comic Con, bursting with cosplay, anime, comics, movies, music and TV. It wasn’t always so. Started as a niche magazine, it was originally going to be called MyManga, before MCM Comic Con founder Bryan Cooney convinced the publisher to call it MyM – with the ‘M’ standing for any number of things (Issue #1 featured the tagline “Movies, Manga, Media, More”).

Bryan bought the magazine in October 2012, and when I took over as editor in May 2013 I set about translating the vibrancy and passion I saw at MCM shows into the love letter you hold in your hand. What was particularly impressive was Bryan’s trust that what we were producing matched up with his expectations of the MCM brand. The hardest working man in convention history, he seemed pleased to be able to take a step back from this one small part of his business empire and know that our team of experts would deliver. And deliver we did.

So we’d like to say a big thank you to Bryan. And while it’s hard to impress a man who has his own Funko Pop figure, we’re sure he’ll enjoy our rendition of him next to our official mascot Mya Tenshi (created by the brilliant Claire Courtney, and you can find more of her work on Facebook). Mostly because we didn’t demand he stand still for long enough for the drawing to be completed!

You’ll find our crack team still providing you with the best mix of niche and mainstream entertainment online at MyM Buzz. But as Sinatra would say, as he bows out in style, “The record shows I took the blows and did it my way!”
