A new full trailer has been released for the live-action adaption of Inuyashiki, which emerged on the film’s official website, as reported on Natalie, which also unveiled the film’s poster. Inuyashiki‘s Twitter page also had new stills from the film.

Adapted from Hiroya Oku’s manga, 58-year-old salaryman Ichiro Inuyashiki (Noritake Kinashi) is living a humdrum existence. He has no friends, his own family ignores him and his doctor has just informed him that he has cancer. One night when walking his dog, Inuyashiki is struck by a mysterious light. He later wakes up unharmed but finds that he now has powerful abilities. However, Inuyashiki was not the only transformed that night. High school student Hiro Shishigami (Takeru Satoh) also gained abilities, but uses them for his own nefarious purposes.

The new trailer showcases the extensive special effects as we see Inuyashiki and Shishigami using their abilities against each other, with the city as their battleground. The trailer also previews the film’s theme song, Take Me Under, performed by MAN WITH A MISSION. The band also performed the opening theme, My Hero, for Inuyashiki’s anime adaptation.

The Twiter page was also updated with a couple of stills. A still was posted of Fumi Nikaido as Shion Watanabe, a student who has a crush on Shishigami. They also posted a still of Inuyashiki checking out his new abilities, adding that the scene looks more amazing in motion.

Inuyashiki is directed by Shinsuke Sato, who also helmed the live-action adaptations of Gantz and Gantz: Perfect Answer. Sato is also directing the big screen version of Bleach. The film also stars Kanata Hongou, Yuki Saito and Yusuke Iseya.

The adapted anime series recently came to an end in December 2017 and can be viewed internationally on Amazon Prime Video.

Inuyashiki opens in Japan on 20 April 2018.
