The Japanese fashion scene has some of the most creative styles from lolita to visual kei. These styles are portrayed through anime and manga but are often not accessible to the reader in the real world. Things are about to change with the announcement that Neon Genesis Evangelion will have its own fashion line.

Clothing retailer GU has over 280 stores in Japan and are a sister company to Uniqlo. They have joined with Neon Genesis Evangelion to release a whole line of t-shirts, dresses, snapback caps and hooded sweatshirts adorned with logos and fonts that are linked to the anime series and the personal styles of each of the characters. To celebrate the release of the collaboration GU shared a teaser image of the characters wearing the new products in a typically modern yet Evangelion-esque setting. The items are a perfect way to show your love for the series whilst keeping stylishly on trend with the modern day fashionistas.

Items range from ¥790 (around £5.40) to ¥2,490 (around £16.90) and the great news is that they cater for men, women, kids and unisex.

At the moment the items are still at a “Coming Soon” stage with the official date of availability being 12 March 2018, both online and within their Japanese and two Hong Kong stores. It also looks like there may be other items such as stationary, tote bags, limited edition prints/posters and figures to come from the collaboration. But time will tell.

Be sure to pop along to the GU website and check out the rest of the character images below.
