Back in March 2017, Deadline reported that a movie adaptation of United Front Games and Square Enix’s Sleeping Dogs was in the works. Since then, news on the movie has been quiet. The film’s star, Donnie Yen, recently took to social media to confirm that the movie is still happening.

Donnie Yen posted on his Instagram account a picture of himself alongside a picture of the game’s protagonist, Wei Shen, suggesting that he is playing the lead role. The star of IP Man said in the post, “Sometimes great things take a bit of time. Sleeping Dog is motion, you guys ready for this?”

The game was released back in August 2012 and had players take control of Wei Shen, a former police officer tasked with infiltrating and taking down the Triad organisation Sun On Yee.

The movie is being produced by Neal Moritz, under his production company Original Film, alongside DJ2 Entertainment, a company that is also working on adaptations of Life is Strange and Sonic the Hedgehog.
