Deadpool 2, new trailer drops and doesn’t disappoint

20th Century Fox has just dropped a new Deadpool 2 trailer…and it’s everything you could hope for.

Once you get past all the parody parts like pointing out Cable’s greenscreen arm and Deadpool mocking their interactions by using action figures, you get a glimpse of what the real movie holds. While there’s still no official synopsis – there’s a fake official synopsis that makes fun of real synopses – we can still enjoy our favourite Marvel antihero in action.

It looks like the organization that’s a problem this time around is called “DMC”. (DeLorean Motor Company?) You can see it on the shields of the soldiers that Cable is fighting as well as on the yellow jumpsuits (prison uniforms?) that various characters are wearing. There are also a bunch of new characters and in one shot there’s an actor who strongly resembles Terry Crews (The Expendables, Terminator Salvation).

The most likely candidate that Crews is playing is a character known as GW Bridge (the GW stands for George Washington, a name Wade Wilson will undoubtedly find hilarious). In the comics, Bridge was a member of a mercenary group known variously as the Wild Pack, or the Six Pack. Cable, Domino, and even Deadpool have been members of the Six Pack at one time or another. The trailer suggests that Cable and Domino have allied with some sort of quasi-military operation and the Six Pack were often dropped off into combat zones by helicopter. It makes perfect sense for Crews to be playing the part of GW Bridge, he even looks like the character.

If Crews is playing GW Bridge, then he’ll potentially be an important figure in the future of Fox’s spinoffs. Bridge has been a recurring character in both Deadpool and X-Force comic book runs, the latter of which is on Fox’s upcoming slate. He’s sometimes portrayed as an ally to the Merc With A Mouth or the mutant black ops time; other times, he’s an enemy. Intriguingly, Bridge’s mercenary career ultimately led him to work with SHIELD; as a Commander there, he wound up tasked with bringing X-Force in, and hunted them down.

While the sequel is expected to stand on its own two feet, Deadpool 2 will also setup X-Force. The movie introduces Cable and Domino, who are sure to be key members of the team, and Bridge is another important X-Force character who could easily play a semi-antagonistic role in the movie.

Here’s the official fake synopsis…

After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.

Deadpool 2 opens May 18th in the US and June 1st in the UK and stars Ryan Reynolds, Josh Brolin, Zazie Beets, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Brianna Hildebrand, Leslie Uggams and Karan Soni.
