Back in October 2017, co-star Jackie Chan talked about the reasons a fourth Rush Hour film had taken so long, citing how they constantly turned down the script and also because of timing. However, he also mentioned that after having agreed to a script, it could start shooting in 2018 “if Chris Tucker agrees.” Now, in a recent interview, Tucker revealed that he and Chan are working on it.

Tucker was interviewed on ESPN podcast The Plug (the interview begins at 39:50), during which he discusses working with Tupac Shakur and Michael Jackson, as well as his return to stand-up comedy. When asked about Rush Hour 4, Tucker responds, “We’re working on it now, me and Jackie.”

Of the buddy-cop film, Tucker says, “It’s happening, we’re working on it. This is going to be the one, the rush of all rushes. Jackie is ready. We want to do this so that people won’t ever forget this.”

Since the release of Rush Hour 3 back in 2007, Tucker has returned to stand-up comedy and only starred in two films, Silver Linings Playbook and Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk.

The Rush Hour trilogy has earned a combined $849 million worldwide and even spawned a TV series (which only lasted for a single season). Each film in the franchise has been helmed by Brett Ratner. However, given the recent allegations against him, it is unclear if he will return to direct the fourth instalment.

I’m glad they are making another one, but please keep that disgusting sexist creep Ratner away. Including CONVICTED paedophile Roman Polanski in RH3 was absolutely unacceptable, not to mention the dirty frat boy level of sexist jokes just don’t sit well with Jackie’s wholesome character. RH1 managed to score big without the Rat’s smut smeared all over it. Keep him away and make an awesome movie.
