Theme Hospital successor Two Point Hospital announced by SEGA

There’s a doctor required in the GP’s office as SEGA and Two Point Studios has announced Two Point Hospital – a spiritual successor to hilarious hospital management sim Theme Hospital.

The reimagining of the Bullfrog classic was announced today after a couple of teases on the SEGA Twitter account. Some were being extremely hopeful that the company might be announcing a Dreamcast 2, but we’ll take Two Point Hospital without any complaints.

If Two Point Hospital is sticking as close as possible to its inspiration, then you can expect to be building, running and managing your own health centre. You’ll not only have to construct the right facilities and hire the right staff to care for patients, but also ensure the place remains presentable and free from rat infestations.

It may not sound like the most thrilling game out there, but the ridiculousness of the original has given it a memorable place in gaming history. Patients would come to your hospital to be cured of all sorts of silly made-up illnesses such as a Bloaty Head, 3rd Degree Sideburns and Transparency. Glancing at the new trailer shows that level of comedy is still in full force.

Two Point Hospital will be released on PC later this year.
