Following the reveal of the teaser poster, Sony Screen Gems has released the first trailer for their upcoming horror Slender Man.
In a small town in Massachusetts, four high school girls perform a ritual in an attempt to debunk the lore of Slender Man; a tall, thin, horrific figure with preternaturally long arms and a featureless face. However, when one of the girls mysteriously ends up missing, they begin to suspect that she might be his latest victim.
The trailer itself plays more like a collection of horror tropes as disturbing clips are packed together. So we see characters screaming, slamming doors, using flashlights in a forest, as well as shots of crawling maggots, and long, stringy black hair.
Directed by Sylvain White, from a script by David Birke and Victor Surge (the creator of Slender Man), the film stars Joey King, Julia Goldani-Telles, Jaz Sinclair, Annalise Basso and Javier Botet. Slender Man opens in the UK and US on 18 May 2018.
