Nintendo has reason to be pretty pleased with themselves as today they announced that the Nintendo Switch is now the fastest-selling home console in the United States.

Since its launch on March 3rd, the Switch has sold 4.8 million units in the US. That beats the previous record held by – you guessed it – the Nintendo Wii.

It’s an impressive figure for the 10-month old console, which more than deserves all of those sales. The device itself is an absolute joy and it can boast one of the best lineups of launch titles we’ve seen for some time.

Speaking of games, according to Nintendo, more than 60 percent of Switch owners in the US have a copy of Super Mario Odyssey. Meanwhile, 55 percent have jumped into Link’s latest grand adventure, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

If we look to the future, Nintendo has Bayonetta, Kirby and Yoshi games due for the Switch in 2018. Big publishers such as EA, Bethesda, Capcom, Activision, Ubisoft,  Sega and Take 2 all have games in development for the console this year too.
