Singer, songwriter and YouTube sensation Poppy will be launching her new series I’m Poppy on YouTube Red later this month. But before that, a trailer has been released.

Since her debut in November 2014, Poppy’s YouTube channel has over 300 videos, the earliest being a ten-minute video where she says “I’m Poppy.” Satirising pop culture, and the idea of celebrity and fame, amid the music (she released her first album Poppy.Computer in October 2017), the other videos on her channel (often filmed with a plain white background) include her reading the Bible, talking about online video sharing, crawling on the floor and being interviewed by the mannequin Charlotte Quinn (who also has her own YouTube channel). Poppy’s videos have achieved over 250 million combined views.

The pilot episode of I’m Poppy will be screened at the Sundance Film Festival and has Poppy enter the ‘real world’ for the first time as she signs a deal to star in her own TV show. However, she soon realises that fame and fortune comes at a price with secret societies, dangerous fanatics, and a rather jealous mannequin named Charlotte. As reported on Variety, things take a turn when Poppy makes another deal, this time with Satan, so she can become “the most famous girl in the entire world.”

The series is written, directed and scored by Poppy’s creator Titanic Sinclair. It stars Poppy (under the name Poppy Chan), Samm Levine, Brad Carter, Dan Hildebrand, Brian Dare, Kofi Boakye and the mannequin Charlotte Quinn.

I’m Poppy launches on YouTube Red on 25 January 2018.
