Dark Horse Comics have announced that they are joining with Disney to release a three issue comic series based on Disney’s mega-hit Frozen.

The Disney Frozen mini-series will be written by Joe Caramagna, writer on Disney Zootopia and Disney DuckTales: Treasure Trove comics. Caramagna also took to Twitter to announce the news and revealed that the comic series has a new character; a mysterious, adventurous young woman. The art will be by Kawaii Creative Studio.

The first issue has Queen Elsa, Princess Anna, Olaf and Kristoff trying to restore peace to the Kingdom of Arendelle following a wild animal loose in the village, destruction in the forest, and unrest brewing in a nearby kingdom.

“We are incredibly excited to collaborate with Disney on this great project,” said Mike Richardson, Dark Horse president and founder. “Frozen has legions of fans, many of whom are here at Dark Horse. I’ve personally enjoyed repeated viewings with my granddaughter, and I look forward to sharing this new series with her.”

It is not the first time that Frozen has made it to comic books, with Joe Books having published a Frozen comic series since July 2016.

It will be a few months till we find out if the Dark Horse Comics series is worth melting for, as the first issue of Disney Frozen is set to arrive in August 2018. Dark Horse and Disney also revealed that they will announce “additional comics in the coming months.”
