So you’re thinking of cosplaying Kirito from Sword Art Online and are looking for the best Elucidator to take with you to conventions. Well, you might want to hold out and save up for Cerevo’s 1/1 scale officially licensed Elucidator.

Cerevo (Consumer Electronics REVOlution) produce innovative technological products, (be it an HD sports camera, or internet-connected projection robot). They first delved into anime prop replica weapons when they released a life-size Dominator from Psycho-Pass in 2016. This year they will be releasing a life-size replica of Kirito’s Elucidator from Sword Art Online.

As reported on Nico Nico News, Cerevo unveiled a prototype at CES 2018 in Las Vegas. Their site lists that the blade is covered with over 2,000 full colour LEDs which produces the luminous glow. It also houses an internal six-axis sensor that detects sword movement. Depending on how it is swung, it will produce the relevant sound effects from the built-in speaker as well as changing the way it shines. It can also connect wirelessly to your smartphone, so if the internal speaker on the blade isn’t to your liking, the sound effects can play from your phone too.

The blade measures 1125mm(h) x 70mm(w) x 47mm(d) and weighs 1.1 kg. There is currently no price for the Elucidator and only a vague mid-2018 given as a release date. However, since Cerevo’s standard edition Dominator costs $799 (around £590), there’s a good chance that the Elucidator will come at a similar price.
